SBDC Assistance: Development of a Strategic Business Plan

Compassionate Care Home Helpers, Inc. is a family-owned and operated business founded by Rosalie Ciletti, Mary Kay Doyle, & Christina ‘Tina’ Ruggieri who have spent their lives and careers caring for others.  They bring into the business a wealth of senior care experience, expertise in medical and health insurance arenas and most importantly, a true call for the caring of others.  Their mission is to provide independence to seniors and the physically disabled by providing services ranging from personal care and grooming to light housekeeping, grocery shopping and meal preparation.

The business has steadily grown since inception and currently employs over 35 individuals in serving the needs of their clients.  Each employee is carefully selected and trained in order to maintain the quality of care for which the company has been recognized.  They work closely with each client and the client’s family in order to evaluate their needs and to tailor an appropriate schedule of care.

Compassionate Care now desires to grow and expand their services in Lawrence County and to surrounding communities in southwestern Pennsylvania and southeastern Ohio.  It may also be possible to serve other nearby areas through the establishment of independently-owned and operated franchises to individuals with a similar motivation and compassion to serve the needs of others.

Assistance

Compassionate Care sought the assistance of the Duquesne University Small Business Development Center in providing research and in preparing a Business Plan and Financial Projections focusing on the future needs and opportunities of their business.

In addition, the company is working with representatives of the Athena Power Link program to promote the continuing growth and profitability of this women-owned business.
