Marla Breitbarth comes to the SBDC to fulfill a newly developed role for our team brought on by funding from the CARES Act of 2020. She joins us as a business consultant, focusing primarily on a healthy and safe workplace for all employees of a small business. She is a 2-time graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Shortly after graduation, she became a Registered Dietitian and is licensed in the State of Pennsylvania.
Her extensive education led her to positions such as a head dietitian, manager, and consultant. Most recently, Marla served as a Campus Resident Dietitian at Carnegie Mellon University just a few miles from our campus. She developed menus, educated her audience, and focused on wellness and sustainability across CMU. Her experience includes work in community health, nutrition education, curriculum development, wellness programs, and individual counseling services.
The Duquesne University SBDC is grateful for Marla’s extensive background and commitment to helping people and businesses grow through healthy eating and living. Marla says, “I am excited to work with a team of consultants here at the SBDC and look forward to bringing a new perspective to the office. Health and safety business consulting is an area the SBDC has not seen before, and I’m excited to share this with new and existing clients.”
